SATURDAY: Scattered storms SPAN SOUTH Ontario

Southerly winds will allow more humid air to be poured into southern Ontario for our day on Thursday. Although there will not be much energy for the storms to work, there will be plenty of moisture in the atmosphere to supply the heavy rain where storms occur. The best chance for storms will fall along the lake bays that push inland in the heat of the day. Storms should remain below strong limits, with heavy rains and thunderstorms being the main hazards. Consider these five gifts A second round of thunderstorms is possible in southwestern Ontario after sunset on Saturday as a possible line of thunderstorms enters from Lake Huron. The daytime high temperatures will be almost seasonal for most of southern Ontario, with afternoon measurements rising from low to mid-20s for much of the area.

SUNDAY: POSSIBLY STARTING RAIN IN SOUTH Ontario

A low-level swing in northern Ontario and Quebec will lead to a wet Sunday for much of central Canada. Several rounds of heavy rain are likely to sweep across the eastern Great Lakes during the day on Sunday. Heavy rain will push southern Ontario on Sunday morning, gradually toward eastern Ontario and southern Quebec during the day. This weekend’s total rainfall will not upset the bucket under any circumstances. We can expect extensive rainfall of 5-10 mm in southern and eastern Ontario, with higher totals probably to the north. Locally stronger overall are likely in storms. The high temperatures will be slightly lower than the seasonal ones as a result of the clouds and the rain, but the measurements below the season in mid-June are still relatively comfortable.

A heat wave south of the border will start affecting our weather next week. Several days of off-season temperatures are likely next week across southern Ontario and Quebec, with daytime highs in the 1920s to close to 30 possible in some areas. However, east winds off Lake Ontario would likely keep the greater Toronto area cooler throughout. The heat could also fuel the risk of thunderstorms at times next week. We are watching the schedule of a cold front towards the end of next week that will help turn up the heat and reduce the temperatures towards the next weekend.
