“We’re winning big in the Republican Party for the nomination like nobody’s seen before,” Trump told a crowd in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Saturday night, before going down the list of other Republicans who could potentially challenge him in 2024. “Here it is, Trump at 71%, Ron DeSantimonius at 10%,” Trump told the crowd as he read the approval numbers of various Republicans. “Mike Pence at seven, oh, Mike is doing better than I thought,” Trump continued. “There’s no way Liz Cheney is at 4%. No way. No way. But we’re at 71 to 10 to 7 to 4.” AS COMMANDER SAILS FOR RE-ELECTION, FLORIDA NEWSPAPERS ENDORSE CHRIST IN HOPES TO oust ‘THE DURPER’ GOVERNOR (L) Former President Donald Trump (R) Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (Alex Wong/Getty Images / Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post via Getty Images) The blow from Trump comes as both are widely seen as the two leading Republican candidates to win the Republican presidential nomination and reports have circulated of possible growing tension between the two camps. DeSantis dismissed rumors of a rift between him and Trump earlier this year, saying Trump is “my friend.” “He wants to see the Republicans do well,” DeSantis told Fox News in February. “And I think when the media tries to act like he’s upset with me that I’m doing well, I think that’s completely hoodwinked. I think they’re just making it up.” TRUMP RAISES LANGUAGE AHEAD OF MID-TERM ELECTIONS THAT MARK 2024 WHITE HOUSE TERM, ADVISERS SAY Former President Donald Trump speaks to supporters at a rally to support local candidates on September 3, 2022 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A presidential straw poll at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit found that 78.7% of participants favored Trump to be the Republican nominee in 2024. Another poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference in August found Trump had 69 percent support among attendees to run in 2024. DeSantis came in at just 24 percent. FLORIDA POLL SHOWS DESANTI, RUBIO LEAD BY DOUBLE DIGITS CHRIST, DEMINGS Trump publicly voiced his displeasure with DeSandis last month after the Florida Republican endorsed Colorado Republican Senate candidate Joe O’Dea despite O’Dea’s sharp criticism of Trump. “BIG MISTAKE!” Trump posted on Truth Social in response to the move. Trump will attend a rally in Florida to support Florida Republican Marco Rubio on Sunday in Miami, an event that Fox News reported did not include an invitation to DeSandis despite his huge popularity among Republicans in the state. DeSantis declined to say during a debate last month whether he will run in 2024, fueling speculation that he is considering throwing his hat in the ring. Representatives for DeSantis and Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
