The French storm brought plenty of wind and rain to the country on Tuesday, with the Met Office warning that more of the same is still expected. A yellow rain warning is in place for southern Scotland from 10am to 6pm. Another yellow warning for rain is in place across Northern Ireland from 8am. to 3 p.m., with people warned that some disruption to power and other services is possible. Chief meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: “30 to 40mm of rain is expected in some areas and where it falls over ground already wet from recent rain and fallen leaves there could be spray and flooding on roads as well as travel delays. .” A final yellow wind warning has been issued for parts of northern England and Wales from 7am until 10pm. Mr Armstrong added: “Much of the UK can expect strong southerly winds on Wednesday, but the warning area highlights where there will be gusts of up to 65mph and so some travel delays are likely.” The Met Office also warns that a short-term loss of power is likely and some sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by large waves. On Tuesday, gusts of 61mph were recorded at Langdon Bay, Kent, while winds of 59mph were recorded at Heathrow.
