South Korean broadcaster KBS reported that at least 21 Russians arrived by yacht at ports in the country’s south, but only two were allowed entry, while others were denied entry as authorities deemed their purpose “ambiguous”. A yacht with five Russian men on board left South Korea’s Ulleung Island on Tuesday after arriving there on September 30 after sailing from the eastern Russian city of Vladivostok, a coast guard official told Reuters on Wednesday. The official said the yacht was “under cover from bad weather” and those on board had been given food and other assistance, but declined to elaborate on why they were denied entry, referring questions about immigration to the Justice Department. KBS reported that three yachts had docked in the southeastern city of Pohang at Pohang Harbor in recent days, carrying mostly Russian men in their 20s and 30s. Nine Russian men and one woman were on board one of the yachts, while four men were on board a smaller boat, it said.
