Obozrevatel did not reveal the source of the video. Russian media reported the explosions at the airport near the Latvian border on Monday, but the Defense Ministry has yet to comment. Baza, who has links to Russian security services, said on Tuesday that Russian military personnel found another improvised explosive device the day after the blast, equivalent to 400 grams of TNT attached to the body of one of the helicopters. Baza tried to downplay the incident. “The aircraft was at a military air base not far from the Latvian border. The helicopters were not fit for use – they were under repair,” Baza said on Monday, citing unnamed officers as saying the explosions were so loud they were heard throughout the area and debris was soon seen flying around. “The explosion was so powerful that the wreckage of the aircraft was scattered about 200 meters away.”
