By Nathan Sager Posted June 10, 2022 at 5:54 pm Update: the lanes reopened around 23:00 on Friday. Traffic on Friday afternoon on Highway 401 in Pickering and Ajax stopped shortly before 6 p.m. Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that due to a motorcycle collision, all lanes of the 401 westbound have been blocked off before Brock Road in Pickering. The freeway section is one of the busiest in Canada. Real-time data from the Ministry of Transport also show that there is a second collision on the same side of the highway in Ajax. This collision led to the closure of all westbound lanes between Westney Road and Centennial Parkway. On ramps from Salem Rd. have also been closed. Traffic has already been stepped up on Highway 412. “I expect the closure to take some time,” said OPP Staff Sgt. said Kerry Schmidt in a video update. An ambulance is on the spot. The ambulance transports a motorcycle rider to an injury center, which is usually a sign of critical injury. #Closure #Pickering # HWY401 West on Brock Rd, all lanes closed due to collision. #ONHwys – 511Ontario (@ 511Ontario) 10 June 2022 #Close #Ajax # HWY401 West in Westney, all lanes closed due to collision. #ONHwys – 511Ontario (@ 511Ontario) 10 June 2022 Motorcycle Collision: Wb # Hwy401 / Brock Rd Pickering. @Ornge landing for patient transport.
