“We are actively working to get systems back up and running and expect service to be restored soon,” the airline said on its Twitter account. Many WestJet passengers appeared to be waiting hours to board planes, with some missing connections, according to several posts on social media on Twitter. One passenger said she was on her “fifth hour” of waiting at Calgary International Airport. Calling it a “global IT outage,” Calgary International Airport has also warned passengers flying through YYC of possible delays, as has Vancouver International Airport. WestJet also experienced a system outage in July due to a train derailment, which led to delays on WestJet flights in Canada and abroad. There are no recent updates on when the outage will be resolved.

We are still working on connecting all the systems. Unfortunately, the effects are still being felt in our operations and we sincerely regret the disruption. — WestJet (@WestJet) November 5, 2022 Although the impact has been limited to only 1 cancellation, we are experiencing some delays in our network and our contact center is unable to access guest bookings at this time. We are working to restore systems and expect service to be restored soon. https://t.co/7uDv21VVlD — WestJet (@WestJet) November 5, 2022
