Chandigarh, November 4 Isudan Gadhvi — the Aam Aadmi Party’s national joint general secretary — has been named AAP’s chief ministerial candidate in Gujarat. The AAP had said on Thursday that it will announce its chief ministerial candidate on Friday soon after the election dates for the Gujarat Assembly elections are announced.

Have faith in me, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal ji and especially the people of Gujarat for giving such a great responsibility to a common man like me. I promise that becoming a servant of the people I will always work for the public interest. — Isudan Gadhvi (@isudan_gadhvi) November 4, 2022 The former TV personality belongs to a well-to-do farming family of Saurashtra. Gadhvi entered politics in June 2021. Before joining AAP, he was a television journalist. Kejriwal said more than 73 percent people voted for Gadhvi. During his journalism days, he worked on the Doordarshan show ‘Yojana’ and went on to be the man who exposed a 150 crore illegal deforestation scam in Dang and Kaparada talukas of Gujarat on his news show. In 2015, when he joined VTV Gujarati, his show ‘Mahamanthan’ would run from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM and was popular. Gadvi quit his job at the height of his journalism career. It was then that Gopal Italia—the other contender for the CM’s post—convinced Gadhvi to join the AAP. “I only want God to give me strength to ease people’s hardships,” he said, promising to work for their welfare. Politics is not my ‘shauk’, it is my ‘majburi’ that I have entered politics, he said, adding that as a television journalist he tried to raise the voice of the people. “However, if you want to clean something up, you have to be a part of it,” he signs off. #Gujarat #IsudanGadhvi Elections
