Winnipeg police said a passerby saw the attack around 9pm on Thursday and called police at a school field on Ellen Street. Police said the AIR1 helicopter quickly found a man on the ground being hit in the head by a group of people. The helicopter was co-ordinated with police on the ground to find the victim, a teenage girl, who sustained serious injuries to her upper body. He was taken to hospital in stable condition. Police found three girls aged 12, 13 and 15 in the area of McDermot Avenue and Francis Street and detained them all. Police also said a knife and drugs were seized. Police believe the suspects and the victim were all known to each other. The girls, aged 12 and 15, have been charged with aggravated assault and have been released on bail. The 13-year-old girl was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and possession of cocaine and fentanyl. He was detained. None of the charges against the three girls have been proven in court.
