A woman whose family was displaced by a wildfire two months ago is highlighting the impact of the housing crisis on her situation. Amanda Harding and her three children were victims of a July 25 house fire that was ruled accidental, and she has been unable to find a permanent place to live since. He says the Red Cross initially put them up in a hotel for three days, then emergency services took over and set up two more hotels. Now, she lives in a shelter in St. John’s and is stuck trying to find a place to live. She says Newfoundland and Labrador Housing told her they have no spots available, even though the place she was renting was subsidized through housing. Also, she says she can’t find anyone out of residence willing to rent to her. She says she was looking for places outside of her budget just to try to give her kids a home again.
